HIGHROAD / CUSTOMER NEED
Car relocation services
Car relocation services help you plan a vehicle move alongside a household or work relocation. Share departure, home-access, and receiving dates so the car’s journey fits the larger move.

How should car transport fit into a relocation?
Plan the vehicle separately from household moving-day assumptions. The date your furniture leaves may not be the date you can release the car, and the date you fly may not be when someone can receive it. Tell us how those events relate.
A household move, job transfer, or change of temporary residence can use open or enclosed transport depending on the vehicle. If you are relocating more than one vehicle, describe each unit and whether all must leave or arrive together; do not assume a group request guarantees one carrier or one handoff.
What details help us assess your request?
Provide origin/destination ZIP codes, each vehicle’s year/make/model and condition, service preference, and your moving constraints. Include property access, receiving hours, and a representative if you will travel separately.
- When can you stop using the car at origin?
- When is the destination home or workplace available?
- Who can inspect and accept the car if you have not arrived?
What should I confirm about the relocation quote and dates?
Ask what vehicle transport includes and keep it distinct from household-goods charges or employer reimbursement arrangements. Review the pickup window, separate delivery estimate, payment terms, cancellation terms, and the actual transporting company.
Explain any nonnegotiable deadline before choosing an option. Distance, capacity, vehicle size, access, and weather can affect the plan. Do not commit your only transport alternative to an unconfirmed delivery day.
What should be ready before moving day?
Prepare keys, condition photographs, and an authorized handoff contact. Remove valuables and loose belongings unless expressly accepted under the carrier’s instructions. Confirm building access at both ends and tell the booking contact if the moving address or schedule changes. Keep transport paperwork accessible during travel.
A practical planning example
For a job relocation from Chicago to Atlanta, explain the last day you need the car in Illinois and the first day your Georgia apartment permits delivery. Your furniture delivery date does not automatically define either vehicle handoff.
This is a planning example, not a scheduled route or a completed Highroad shipment.
Should I ship the car before or after moving day?
Choose the sequence around when the car can be released and when someone can receive it. Household moving dates, flights, key handover, and vehicle transport are separate arrangements. You may need the car until departure, while the new home may not yet be available for delivery.
For a Denver-to-Charlotte relocation, list your flight date, lease start, vehicle-ready date, and receiving contact. Ask for a pickup window and a transit estimate, then decide whether a rental or another backup is needed. Do not force an estimated delivery to match a house-closing appointment.
Can I put moving boxes in the car?
Do not assume vehicle shipping includes personal belongings. Ask the assigned carrier for written instructions about permitted items, weight, placement, and coverage before leaving anything inside. Remove valuables and loose items. Ocean requirements can differ from a mainland road shipment.
Boxes can hide existing damage, obstruct visibility, or change the load the carrier agreed to carry. Tell us if belongings are part of the request so the scope can be clarified. A household move and an auto shipment should be compared and booked on their own applicable terms.
What if my new address changes after I submit the quote?
Update the route and access details before agreeing to a booking. A different city, ZIP code, street, or receiving property can affect the plan. If a shipment is already arranged, contact the service provider promptly and ask about any change in pricing, access, or schedule.
Delivery to a suburban driveway outside Raleigh can differ from a downtown apartment’s loading area. Give the final receiving address when known and describe gates, parking restrictions, and who can attend. A quote based on one ZIP code should not be treated as a commitment to another location.
Can a family member handle the car while I travel?
Yes, request an authorized handoff arrangement and confirm the provider’s requirements. Name the pickup and delivery contacts, their phone availability during the agreed window, and who holds the keys. They need time to inspect the vehicle and keep the paperwork.
Do not include identity documents in the initial website form. Ask during the callback what authorization is required and how to provide it. A helpful receiving person is someone who can attend the handoff, understand the inspection, and report a concern—not only someone who lives near the new address.
How do I compare shipping with driving the car myself?
Compare the quoted shipping scope with your own fuel, lodging, meals, time, wear, and travel needs. Use actual numbers for your trip rather than a national average. Shipping may solve a two-car move or let you fly, but whether it is the better choice depends on your circumstances.
For a Boston-to-San Diego move, consider who would drive, how much time is available, and whether the car is suitable for the trip. If transport is chosen, confirm open or enclosed equipment and separate pickup and transit estimates. Neither option eliminates all planning.
What happens if the household move or closing is delayed?
Tell the transport contact as soon as you know and check the rescheduling terms. Do not assume the carrier can store the car, change the destination, or hold the original price without review. Establish what happens if pickup has already occurred.
Have a realistic receiving alternative before booking if the move is uncertain. Submit the route, ready date, expected receiving date, and unresolved address details in the quote request. The process guide explains what to confirm before either handoff.
Car relocation services: common questions
Can I ship more than one car for a move?
List each vehicle, condition, and date requirement. Confirm whether the available plan uses one or multiple handoffs and carriers.
Is car transport included with my household move?
Do not assume it is. Review what each quote and contract includes and confirm vehicle transport separately.
Can my employer pay for the shipment?
Confirm reimbursement or direct-payment arrangements with your employer and the actual booking provider; the quote form does not establish eligibility.
