HIGHROAD / CUSTOMER NEED
Snowbird car shipping
Snowbird car shipping is seasonal vehicle transport planned around when you leave, when your destination is ready, and who can receive the car. Share both ends of the travel schedule.

What dates matter for a seasonal vehicle move?
Your preferred pickup date is only one part of the plan. Tell us when you stop needing the car at origin, when you leave, and when an authorized person becomes available at destination. A seasonal apartment or home may have a receiving date different from your flight date.
New York, New Jersey, New England, and Midwest customers can request moves to Florida or other warmer destinations, as well as return trips. Do not assume a round trip shares one fixed price or that the same pickup window applies both ways.
What details help us assess your request?
Include both ZIP codes, vehicle information, condition, service preference, and the dates that constrain the trip. Mention condo rules, gated access, property-manager availability, and callback time zone.
- State the earliest pickup and first possible receiving date.
- Explain whether a relative or property contact can accept the vehicle.
- For a return move, submit the likely return window separately.
How should I plan around seasonal dates and pricing?
Ask for an origin pickup window and a separate delivery estimate. Route capacity, vehicle details, trailer type, and your degree of flexibility affect the option discussed. We do not publish an unverified snowbird discount or fixed seasonal timetable.
Keep room for an estimate to change if your travel depends on vehicle availability. If you are booking accommodation or returning a rental car, do not treat an unconfirmed transport date as a guaranteed handoff.
How should I prepare both seasonal addresses?
Check parking and loading rules at the destination before travel. Make sure keys, authorized representatives, and condition inspections are arranged at both ends. Remove loose belongings and follow the carrier’s preparation checklist. If a seasonal property address or receiving date changes, update the shipment contact promptly.
A practical planning example
For a car moving from Long Island to Fort Myers, share the date you leave New York and when your Florida property becomes available. If your receiving contact arrives later, delivery planning needs that information before arrangements are confirmed.
This is a planning example, not a scheduled route or a completed Highroad shipment.
When should I request shipping for my winter stay?
Start when your departure plan and vehicle-ready date are known, then confirm route availability. Snowbird moves need the car’s dates to align with someone available at both ends. There is no universal advance-booking period or guaranteed seasonal schedule for every route.
Give the earliest workable pickup, your travel date, and when the destination can receive the vehicle. A fixed condo check-in date does not automatically become the car’s delivery date. Discuss a receiving contact or another agreed arrangement if you will not yet be there.
Can I book both the trip south and the return north?
Provide both routes and date windows, but ask how each movement will be confirmed. A fall request from New Jersey to Naples and a spring return can have different timing and capacity. Do not assume a round-trip inquiry fixes both prices or guarantees future pickup dates.
If the return date is undecided, say so. Ask about changing dates, cancellation terms, and how far ahead to reconfirm. Keep a record of the vehicle, handoff addresses, and contacts for each direction so the return request is not based on stale information.
What if my condo, HOA, or seasonal community restricts truck entry?
Check the property’s actual loading and entry rules before pickup or delivery. Provide gate procedures, permitted hours, turning limitations, and whether a commercial carrier needs advance approval. Door-to-door service still depends on safe, legal access.
For destinations in Naples, Sarasota, Boca Raton, or Palm Beach, the useful detail is the specific property—not the city’s reputation as a snowbird destination. Agree an accessible alternative location with the transport contact if needed. Do not assume the clubhouse lot allows vehicle loading.
Can the car arrive before my flight or after I leave?
Only if an agreed, authorized person or other confirmed arrangement can handle the handoff. Explain who will inspect and receive the car, how they will access it, and when they are available. An unattended driveway or a key hidden outside should not be treated as an automatic delivery solution.
If you leave New York before collection, arrange the pickup representative and confirm their authorization requirements. If your arrival in Florida changes, notify the transport contact promptly. Storage, if needed, must be specifically discussed rather than assumed to be included.
Are seasonal car shipping rates fixed?
No single seasonal rate applies to every customer. Your origin, destination, vehicle, trailer preference, condition, dates, and available capacity determine the quote. A New England-to-Fort Myers request and a Midwest-to-Arizona move need separate assessments.
Ask whether a flexible date window changes the available options and compare equivalent quotes. Tell us if enclosed protection, non-running loading, or an ocean leg is needed. A seasonal move is the reason for shipping, not a separate promise about trailer equipment or speed.
What should I prepare before leaving the seasonal home?
Remove valuables, confirm provider instructions for belongings and vehicle preparation, and record condition at pickup. Check that keys, gate access, and the receiving contact are arranged. If the car has been parked for months, verify its actual condition instead of assuming it still starts and moves safely.
Include the route, dates, time zones, and property access in the quote form. Say “winter stay” or “return north” if helpful, and use the door-to-door guide to plan both handoffs.
Snowbird car shipping: common questions
Can I request a return shipment too?
Yes. Share the likely return route and dates, but confirm the return option and terms rather than assuming the outbound arrangement repeats.
Must I be in Florida when the car arrives?
Arrange an authorized receiver if you cannot attend and confirm the provider’s handoff requirements.
Can I load seasonal belongings into the car?
Do not assume belongings are accepted or covered. Get written instructions from the assigned provider before leaving items inside.
