HIGHROAD / VEHICLE TYPE
Recreational Vehicle (RV) shipping
RV shipping requires the unit type, actual dimensions, weight, condition, and proposed handoff locations. A motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel need different equipment and roadworthiness reviews.

Which RV movement are you requesting?
Identify whether the unit is self-propelled or towable before discussing the method. A motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel, and other recreational unit do not share one standard transport approach. A loaded-carrier movement and a towing arrangement are different scopes.
Give actual transport dimensions, including items that affect clearance. Discuss roadworthiness and any mechanical limitation. This page does not promise a driveaway driver, hitch setup, tow vehicle, or loading method for every unit; the suitable option must be confirmed.
What details help us assess your request?
Provide manufacturer/model, RV type, length/width/height, weight if known, operating condition, origin/destination, dates, and access. For towable units, explain trailer condition and coupling details for review.
- Disclose tires, brakes, lights, or movement issues.
- Describe storage-yard release and destination turning/loading space.
- State whether dimensions and weights are measured or estimated.
What affects RV shipping cost and the route?
Size, weight, movement method, roadworthiness, loading/unloading, route constraints, and applicable movement requirements can change the quote. Ask who provides and approves the needed equipment and whether the quoted scope includes related work.
Do not assume a campground booking establishes a transport delivery date. Confirm the pickup window, separate delivery estimate, and receiving hours. Specialized or oversized movement may need a more detailed route review than standard car transport.
What should be confirmed before an RV move?
Follow the approved provider’s preparation checklist for the selected method. Secure interior items and exterior accessories as instructed, document condition, and confirm release and receiving access. Any towing plan must be checked for the actual unit; do not rely on improvised towing or generic coupling advice.
A practical planning example
For a fifth wheel moving from a storage yard near Dallas to a receiving site in Florida, clarify the unit type, dimensions, condition, and site access. A standard auto-carrier quote does not establish that a towing or loaded transport plan is suitable.
This is a planning example, not a scheduled route or a completed Highroad shipment.
Will my RV be driven, towed, or carried on a trailer?
The method needs assessment for the specific RV, condition, and route. Identify whether it is a motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel, camper, or another unit. Give dimensions, weight if known, and whether it is roadworthy. An RV shipping request does not automatically establish driveaway or trailer transport.
Explain which methods you would consider and ask what is proposed. Each has different preparation and equipment requirements. Do not assume an ordinary car carrier can handle a tall motorhome, or that a towable RV can be towed safely without checking its running gear and hitch requirements.
What measurements and condition details does an RV quote need?
Provide overall length, width, and height as configured for travel, plus weight information and fitted accessories. State the unit type, make/model, modifications, tire condition concerns, and whether it can move safely. Identify anything that must be removed or secured by you before pickup.
Roof equipment, racks, spare carriers, and protruding attachments can affect the assessment. Factory figures should be checked against the current configuration. If measurements are uncertain, say so; accurate details are needed before a suitable transport arrangement can be confirmed.
Can you move an RV that has been parked for a long time?
It needs a current condition review, not an assumption based on its last trip. Disclose flat or damaged tires, brake problems, leaks, seized components, missing keys, or inability to start or tow safely. A qualified person may need to assess roadworthiness or safe recovery.
Describe the campsite or storage access, ground conditions, and whether the RV can reach a level loading area. A unit parked behind a narrow gate near an Orlando RV park may need a different solution from one on an open dealer lot. Do not attempt unsafe movement to prepare for collection.
Does RV transport include campground setup or teardown?
Do not assume it includes leveling, hookups, awnings, slide-outs, or site preparation. Clarify what the transporting party will do and what the owner or park must complete before and after movement. Those tasks should be expressly included if required.
Confirm checkout and receiving hours, gate procedures, parking permission, and space for the equipment. A reservation at an RV park in Mesa or near Tampa is separate from transport availability. Tell us if the park limits commercial arrivals or requires a staff member at delivery.
Can permits or weather affect an RV shipment?
Dimensions, loaded configuration, route, and conditions can affect planning. Ask the proposed specialist whether any permits, route restrictions, or additional measures apply. An RV’s size does not establish the same requirements in every state.
Give a realistic date window and discuss contingencies if a campsite reservation or purchase deadline is fixed. We do not publish a universal RV transit time. The oversized guide explains why route and equipment review can be necessary.
What does the RV transport quote need to include?
Ask about the movement method, included distance and handoffs, preparation responsibilities, loading or towing support, applicable coverage, and any additional costs. Clarify whether personal contents can remain and how they are treated; remove valuables and follow the provider’s written instructions.
Photograph the unit, accessories, and existing condition. Submit the exact RV type and dimensions in the quote request. A roadworthy towable trailer and a non-running motorhome should not be compared as if they are the same shipment.

Disclose the damage and movement limitations. Safe loading or towing suitability must be confirmed.
Are campground deliveries automatic?
No. Confirm receiving rules, access, turning space, and who can attend the handoff at the actual site.
