Motorcycle shipping
Motorcycle shipping needs a transport method suited to the bike’s dimensions, condition, and securement. Share the model, accessories, and route so the handling option can be reviewed.

What is different about transporting a motorcycle?
A motorcycle needs an appropriate loading and securing plan, not a standard car assumption. Its balance, contact points, fairings, luggage, and condition affect handling. Tell us whether the bike rolls freely and whether keys are available.
A touring motorcycle with panniers, a modified cruiser, and a small road bike can have different dimensions and handling concerns. Discuss the available equipment and whether enclosure or another suitable method is proposed. Do not assume a particular crate, stand, or covered trailer is included unless confirmed.
What details help us assess your request?
Provide make, model, year, approximate dimensions if modified, operational condition, and pickup/delivery ZIP codes. Include sidecars, luggage, wide handlebars, custom parts, or fragile accessories.
- Explain whether the bike rolls, steers, and brakes.
- Describe dealership, home, storage, or event pickup access.
- For multiple bikes, list each unit separately.
What affects a motorcycle shipping quote?
The route, handling method, dimensions, condition, number of units, and dates affect the request. Ask what equipment and loading are included, who handles the shipment, and how the bike’s condition will be documented.
For an event or seasonal trip, give both the departure deadline and receiving date. A pickup window is not the same as an event-arrival guarantee. Hawaii or overseas transport needs a separate acceptance review because ocean-carrier rules can differ for motorcycles.
How should I prepare the bike for handoff?
Photograph all sides and existing marks, secure or remove loose accessories, and follow the assigned provider’s fuel or battery instructions. Explain alarms and any special controls. Get instructions on luggage and keys rather than assuming they can stay with the bike. Review the condition documentation at both handoffs.
A practical planning example
For a touring bike moving from Orlando to Phoenix, provide the model and pannier details along with your dates. If you are traveling separately, identify who can release the bike and who can inspect it at delivery.
This is a planning example, not a scheduled route or a completed Highroad shipment.
Will my motorcycle be crated, covered, or transported on a trailer?
Confirm the proposed equipment and protection; “motorcycle shipping” does not specify one method. Give the bike’s year, make, model, modifications, and whether it rolls and steers. Ask how loading, securement, and handoff will work for that particular motorcycle.
A standard street bike, touring motorcycle with panniers, trike, and custom chopper can have different space and loading requirements. If you want enclosed protection or a crate, request it specifically and confirm whether that option is available rather than assuming it is included.
Do saddlebags, a windshield, or an aftermarket exhaust change the quote?
They can change the dimensions or handling details that need review. Include mounted luggage, a wide handlebar, extended forks, a sidecar, and lowered suspension. Send the actual configuration, not just the manufacturer’s stock model dimensions.
Ask which accessories should stay fitted and which should be removed before pickup. Loose helmets, tools, and spare parts are separate items; do not assume they can ride with the bike or receive the same coverage. Explain if detached components also need shipping.
Can I ship a motorcycle that does not start?
Request a condition assessment and describe more than the starting problem. Tell us whether the wheels turn, the steering moves, the brakes release, keys are available, and the bike has leaks or crash damage. A motorcycle that rolls normally differs from one with a bent wheel or locked steering.
For collection from a repair shop in Nashville, confirm the shop has released the motorcycle and who will help at the handoff. If it is in a storage unit with a narrow access corridor, disclose that before equipment is discussed. Recovery and highway transport may be separate needs.
How do I plan motorcycle shipping around a trip or rally?
Give the event date and your receiving availability, but request separate pickup and transit estimates. Do not schedule the motorcycle’s estimated arrival for the same hour you intend to ride away. Transport availability, loading access, and conditions along the route still matter.
For a move from Chicago to Daytona Beach, tell us whether the destination is a home, shop, hotel, or event-area location. A busy event area may need an approved alternative handoff. This is a planning example; it does not imply a regular Highroad rally schedule.
What should I do before handing over the bike?
Follow the assigned provider’s fuel, battery, alarm, key, and accessory instructions. Photograph both sides, fairings, wheels, seat, mirrors, and existing marks. Make a written record of included equipment. Do not attach your own straps or covers unless the transporting company directs you to.
Ask how the bike will be stabilized and secured without assuming every setup is identical. Discuss unusual balance, clearance, or fragile bodywork. Keep the pickup paperwork and allow the receiving person time to check the same areas before signing the delivery record.
What details help produce a useful motorcycle quote?
Provide the origin and destination ZIP codes, bike model and configuration, operating condition, dates, preferred protection, and site access. State if the request involves a trike, sidecar, multiple motorcycles, an auction purchase, or Hawaii; each changes the scope to assess.
Use the quote form notes to describe the bike and any fixed dates. If the standard vehicle fields do not fit, write the motorcycle details there and explain the request. Pricing and equipment are discussed during the callback before a booking is confirmed.
Motorcycle shipping: common questions
Is enclosed motorcycle shipping automatically included?
No. Discuss the handling method and enclosure with the transport option and confirm what the price includes.
Can a non-running bike be shipped?
Request a condition review, including whether it rolls, steers, brakes, and has keys. Suitable loading must be confirmed.
Can I ship a motorcycle to Hawaii?
Request a specific ocean acceptance check. A mainland option does not establish that an ocean carrier accepts the bike.
