HIGHROAD / CUSTOMER NEED
Military auto transport
Military auto transport requests need the route, vehicle, ready date, reporting constraints, and pickup/delivery access. Confirm official PCS entitlements separately; a Highroad quote request does not establish government funding.

What should service members confirm before arranging transport?
Separate a commercial personal-vehicle request from any authorized government shipping arrangement. Your transportation office is the appropriate source for entitlement, reimbursement, and official processing guidance. Do not assume a commercial quote will be paid or reimbursed.
For a personal vehicle move, explain departure and reporting constraints and who can attend each handoff. Base access can affect loading. Check installation requirements and discuss a safe permitted meeting point if the transport provider cannot enter.
What details help us assess your request?
Include pickup/delivery ZIP codes, vehicle information and condition, transport preference, earliest release date, and receiving constraints. Mention base access or a vehicle processing-center handoff only if relevant and confirmed.
- State whether the request is personal commercial shipping or needs further entitlement review.
- Provide a callback time zone and any representative arrangement.
- Do not upload orders, military IDs, or sensitive documents into the general quote form.
What should I check about PCS costs and dates?
Review the actual quote, pickup window, delivery estimate, and cancellation terms. Any employer or government reimbursement needs separate confirmation. This website does not claim government-approved status, a military contract, or an unverified military discount.
A reporting date matters, but it does not by itself guarantee a transport date. For Hawaii or an overseas assignment, confirm vehicle eligibility, ocean acceptance, destination rules, and official arrangements before selecting a shipment plan.
How should access and representatives be arranged?
Confirm access permissions and receiving hours with the location. Arrange authorized representatives through the applicable booking process if you cannot attend. Document condition at both handoffs, remove loose items, and follow preparation requirements. Keep shipment contacts separate from official PCS entitlement contacts.
A practical planning example
For a personal vehicle request from North Carolina to Texas around a reporting date, explain when the car is ready and when a receiver is available. Check any base-access plan separately instead of assuming an auto carrier can load inside the installation.
This is a planning example, not a scheduled route or a completed Highroad shipment.
Is this a government-arranged POV shipment or a private booking?
A Highroad form requests a private shipping discussion; it does not enroll you in a government POV shipping program. If you may have an entitlement, contact your transportation office before paying for a private movement. Orders, eligibility, and approval determine what applies to your situation.
Military OneSource’s PCS FAQs are an official starting point. CONUS, Hawaii, and overseas moves can involve different rules. We do not claim government affiliation, authorized reimbursement, or approval as a military shipping contractor.
How do I plan a car shipment around a report date?
Give the report date, vehicle-ready date, and receiving availability separately. Tell us whether you can release the car before departure and who can accept it at the destination. Ask what pickup window and transit estimate can actually be offered for the route.
For a move between the San Diego area and the Fayetteville, North Carolina area, access and travel plans matter at both ends. These city examples do not imply a base partnership or a regular carrier schedule. Keep a fallback for commuting if delivery is still estimated.
Can a carrier pick up or deliver on an installation?
Base access must be confirmed; do not assume a commercial truck or driver can enter. Check the installation’s current entry and loading requirements with the appropriate office. Explain restrictions and whether an accessible, permitted handoff outside the installation is available.
Provide the receiving location and contact without posting sensitive access credentials in the website form. An appointment or escort requirement can affect the handoff plan. Door-to-door shipping means safe, legal access as arranged; it is not an exemption from installation controls.
Can my spouse or another person handle the shipment?
Request authorized representation and confirm the provider’s paperwork requirements. Explain who owns the vehicle, who will release it, and who will receive it. A deployed or traveling owner may not be reachable during collection, so clarify the handoff plan before booking.
Do not upload orders, military identification, or power-of-attorney documents to the lead form. Ask during the callback what information is needed and how it should be shared. A representative must also have time to inspect the vehicle and keep condition records.
Do you offer a military discount or reimbursement documents?
We do not advertise a discount or reimbursement guarantee that has not been confirmed. Ask about available pricing and the booking documentation during the callback. Then ask your transportation office whether that private shipment and paperwork meet your requirements.
Compare the same route, vehicle, dates, and equipment before comparing quotes. Keep receipts and condition records, but do not assume retaining them makes an expense eligible. Your entitlement is separate from whether the shipment can be arranged.
What if orders or the destination change?
Contact the transport provider as soon as the change is known and check the booking’s cancellation and rescheduling terms. A changed installation, port, city, or ready date can require another quote and availability check. Explain whether collection has already happened.
For Hawaii or an overseas request, separate private road transport from any government or ocean arrangement already in progress. Do not book overlapping movements without confirming responsibilities. Start with the route and vehicle details; eligibility questions belong with the official transportation office.
